Copper and nickel leaching

Tailor-made leaching processes for most demanding precious metals producers.

Copper can be removed from anode slime by atmospheric leaching in sulfuric acid. In case the slime contains significant amounts of nickel, tellurium or arsenium, it has to be leached in autoclave with high-pressure and high-temperature.

In pressure leaching, oxygen gas is used for oxidizing the metallic copper. Copper oxide is then leached with sulfuric acid. Outotec's patented GLS agitator efficiently mixes oxygen into solution.

Selenium and silver are precipitated out of the solution with sulfur dioxide gas in flash tank. Tellurium can be recovered as copper telluride from the the filtrate.
