Jumbo ingot casting system
The Jumbo Ingot Casting is a continuous system for casting of ingots 24 hours per day, 7 days a week offering the following benefits:
- No transport of molten zinc required, thanks to a simple rotary system feeding fixed moulds.
- Cavity-free ingot production by "hot topping", as the cycle time for pouring, freezing and ingot removal is one hour
- Low surface temperatures at the ingot weighing station thanks to integrated secondary cooling
- Easy monitoring of casting rate and launder build-up thanks to continuous weigh system in feed launder
- Easy control of the fill level of moulds thanks to laser system
- Improved operator safety due to a fixed rather than moving mould design
- Slow, smooth and controlled movements of the crane and launder at design rates yield high reliability and low maintenance requirements.
- Reduced labor requirements due to the automated design improve the productivity. Integrated ingot weighing and marking station produces a "ready to ship" ingot without the need for a separate weighing marking station.
Dross Treatment
In the Dross Treatment the dross from the zinc cathode smelting furnaces, which contains up to 90% of zinc is treated in grinding operation, bag filter etc. After that the zinc is recirculated to the melting furnace.
Zinc Dust Plant
The Zinc Dust Plant consists mainly of three sections:
- atomising furnace
- expansion chamber with a de-dusting bag house
- dust screen and storage
A portion of the molten zinc from the induction furnace is charged into the ladle of the gas heated atomising furnace. A special designed compressed air jet nozzle atomising the liquid zinc streams by blowing them into the expansion chamber and precipitated. At the following screen station oversize zinc dust is separated. The oversize returns to the melting furnace and the rest is sent to the purification.
